Ewald Winkelbauer is a well-known and prize-winning product designer. In 1990 he opened his own design studio. Amongst his clients are i.a. Schwan Stabilo, Eco, Silit, Fissler, Quattrifolio, Yamaha.

Winkelbauer has been working for Rosenthal since 2002. For the brand Thomas he develpoed a series of superior kitchen tools made of stainless steel, which had been awarded with the if design award.
