Johan van Loon, a former textile designer, took to ceramics in 1958. He is regarded as one of the most important Dutch ceramic artists of the 20th century. His dialogue with the material is bold, often taking him to the limits of the feasible, either with his one-of-a-kind objects or with his radical designs for industrial productions. Van Loon has been working for Rosenthal since 1980. For Rosenthal studio-line he created an extraordinary collection that includes his parchment-porcelain and senitively designed sculptures. Amongst his most successful products are the vases »Troll« and »Fun o'fant«.
