Walter Gropius, GER

* 1883     † 1969

Walter Gropius was an architect and designer. As co-founder of Deutscher Werkbund and mentor of Staatliches Bauhaus in Weimar, he decisively influenced the creative work of the 20th century.
Gropius has been working for Rosenthal since 1963. He created the multi-award-winning tea-set »TAC I« as well as the coffee-set »TAC II«. Thus, he was the source of inspiration of the porcelain and glass shape »TAC o2« of the 21st century. »TAC I« served as an example of contemporary design and was incorporated as such into the permanent collection of the Centre Pompidou in Paris. Rosenthal owes the designs for the porcelain factory Rosenthal am Rothbühl in Selb and for the glass factory in Amberg to Gropius.
