DISNEY, Walt

Walt Disney, USA

* 1901     † 1966

Walt Disney defined and governed the animated movie genre like nobody else but also produced very successful nature documentaries and movies. In 1928 he created the figure "Mickey Mouse" in the movie "Steamboat Willie" and lent his voice to the mouse until his death. He was responsible for more than 600 movie productions, amongst them "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs", "Pinocchio", "Bambi", "Alice in Wonderland", "Sleeping Beauty" and finally "The Jungle Book". He was awarded 24 Oscars, an unequalled record.
Rosenthal acquired the license to form the porcelain figurine of Mickey Mouse in the beginning of the 30s. In 1931 six figurines and also the Minnie Mouse figurine were created. They were exported worldwide, with the exception of the US and Canada.
