»Vario« from the Trend Factory

The »Vario« tableware was developed in intensive, biennial collaboration with yellow design under the direction of Professor Günter Horntrich. The goals of their work was to meet the demands for modernity, aesthetics and functionality without just responding to a short-lived trend. This is why»Vario« was conceived for the long run: because of its many possible combinations this tableware remains interesting every day and always takes on different looks. A main issue was "reduction through combination and multi-functionality". The overall concept was awarded the Design Distinction Award Consumer Products in 1997.

Basic approach was the range of materials: pure porcelain or a mix of porcelain with stainless steel, plastics and wood. »Vario« can be called a true ecological design because of its multi-functionality and the use of recyclable plastics and natural materials, e.g. wood from plantations.
Another keyword of the »Vario« line is combination. Round plates may be combined with square ones, bowls may be covered with plates and thus gain stackability. Cups are stackable and therefore need less space in the cupboard.
